New Horizons

March 23, 2018 By Garden Street Academy

What is New Horizons?
New Horizons is one of the most exciting times of the school year! The idea behind New Horizons is to give students opportunities to either try new things or spend an extended amount of time engaging in content or a craft that they feel passionate about. These ten days are constructed with great care so that all content is within the context of the workshop, but is also interdisciplinary as students integrate modes of knowledge from a multitude of subject areas. It is an opportunity to create, raise questions, solve problems, and collaborate with peers and staff that might not be possible in a single disciplinary setting.

What Does it Look Like?
New Horizons is offered the two weeks right after spring break where two or three workshops are offered per day, and each workshop is about two hours long, for ten days. Each workshop has an interdisciplinary theme with specific goals outlined in the curriculum created by one or more of our facilitators. There are a variety of workshops offered but generally fall under categories such as art, music, drama, athletics, and literature. We look forward to sharing this super rich learning experience with your child!
