We strive to connect physical education classes with activities that are important in the students’ lives and with what’s being studied in the classroom. Pysical Education classes offer an opportunity to develop the basic fundamentals of a variety of individual and team sports. Thematic units are run in two to three-week sessions and include skill practice, and games.
Classes are designed to allow each student to work on their individual skills in a non-competitive environment. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, agility, coordination and balance are explored in different activities emphasizing fitness and games.
Students in the 4th-5th grades can participate in the Christian Athletic League after-school sports program. Students play as a coed team for soccer and volleyball, while boys and girls play in their own divisions for basketball. Soccer takes place during the fall, basketball in the winter and volleyball in the spring with games being held on Fridays at 3:45 throughout the year. Each season culminates with a tournament or playoff day.
